mark lewis - camera / Audio / Director

Is a musician, music producer, sound engineer and filmmaker from Manchester UK. Over the last 10 years Marky has carved a reputation for producing high quality Recordings for some of Manchester's Finest independent artists.

Mark began his music production career recording Albums for band's at school, quickly graduating from a Tascam 4-track tape deck to an AKAI 12 track digital machine. He later went on to major in Music Production and Composition at University of Leeds.

Since then Marky has worked with a variety of Artists and Singer-songwriters from Manchester. Genre's spanning from Soul, Neo-Soul, Hip-hop, Funk, Blues, Reggae, Pop, and more recently Folk, Americana and Country. Production work has ranged from Solo vocal and acoustic Guitar / upright piano to "wall of sound' and full orchestra recordings.

Although at home behind the board, Mark has had the pleasure of playing on many of the records he has worked on, be it Upright or Electric Bass, Backing Vocals, Guitars & Percussion. Mark also performs live with a number of different artists including Yola, Chorlton Country Club, Lauren Housley, Danni Nicholls and Jaime Wyatt. 

Mark first delved into the video world in 2018 with a series of live stream events from the Manchester studio facility for YouTube Channel TripleCTV. This was the beginning of Mark & Tom’s collaborations on a series of shoots for the Channel, featuring a series of guest artists from the U.K. Americana Scene, including Robbie Cavanagh, Demi Marriner, Danni Nicholls and Rob Vincent.

The Folk Alliance International conference 2019 in Montreal began the pair’s journey into making a documentary about the FAI event, funded by the British Underground and British Arts Council.

Mark has a passion for capturing live music performances which has further been amplified by translating this into a visual format.

In the Northern Cowboys team, Mark is responsible for delivering inspiring audio, focusing on an earthy, warm and natural sound capture of musical performances. Mark often doubles as a second camera operator and contributes to the editing process.

Is a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, studio owner and filmmaker from Sheffield, UK. Tom studied Jazz, Popular and Commercial Music at Newcastle College. Over the last 10 years Tom has carved a career for himself as an instrumentalist, Musical arranger, bandleader and songwriter.

Best known for his long term collaboration with Lauren Housley as a songwriter, arranger and producer, Tom has had a prolific amount of creative output over the last decade. Songs and productions for Lauren have gone on to have extensive Radio 2 airplay and lead to Lauren’s reputation as a well renowned songwriter and performer on the Americana, Country and Roots music scene in the U.K. More recently Tom and partner Lauren Housley have opened a recording studio, Lovebird Studios, in Rotherham, UK.

On the road Tom has toured with Chance McCoy (Old Crow Medicine Show), Lauren Housley, Danni Nicholls and Chorlton Country Club, on both guitar and piano.

He has a long standing interest in video and has previously been involved in filming shoots for Kaleidoscope Orchestra, The Classic Rock Show, Jake Morley & Greg Russell, as well as producing music videos for Lauren Housley and The Trials Of Cato.

Tom began collaborating on video projects with Mark on their shoots for TripleCTV and the FAI conference 2019. Thus, Northern Cowboy Films was born.

Tom’s role within the team is producing stunning visuals as Director of Photography, Camera Operator and Video Editor.
